“The ability of one to affect many is scaling exponentially — and it’s scaling for good and it’s scaling for evil.” Marc Goodman, Future Crimes

We had started this year with great plans for a great party with prominent guest speakers and numerous members participating but it was not to be … We remain excited to host a big in-person lustrum event next year, when hopefully the Coronavirus (Covid-19) developments evolve in such a way that we can network again. However, we do not want our fifth birthday to pass unnoticed. That is why we have invited a special guest speaker to a Lustrum Cyber Talk at the close of this unprecedented year.

Our Chairman, Jan De Blauwe, will engage in a discussion with global security strategist and best-selling author Marc Goodman about the impact of certain technologies on both cyber risk and the responsibilities of corporate technology and security leaders.

You may remember Marc from a famous TED-Talk (2012) when he walked some of the darker sides of technology showing examples of how drug cartels and terrorists could (and already do) use new technology to serve criminal purposes. While Marc thinks (and worries) about what criminals will do with 3-D printing, flying drones and open access to our DNA, he also believes that the same open spirit could be used to help law enforcement keep up — and even crowdsource policing.

How much should we worry about future crimes? When you listen to Marc speak about the evolution of cybercrime, you begin to understand—at a deep and rather chilling level—why we are seeing more and more massive security breaches.

Do you have any burning questions you would like to ask Marc? Take up your pen and send your question to [email protected] by November 23rdYou have a chance to receive his book ‘Future Crimes’ when your question is dealt with during our Cyber Talk. We have 10 books to hand out.

The Zoom talk will take place on December 8th at 5:00 p.m. CET followed by a Q&A.

After the talk, our Chairman will issue the certificates to all our members’ representatives who successfully have completed the ‘Cyber Security Awareness & Culture Ambassador’ training course.

We hope that you sign up in great numbers for this compelling talk.
