Safer Internet Day 2023

We can’t imagine life without the internet, it gives us so many opportunities. Therefore, it should also be a safe space where children can be empowered, inspired, respected and protected. A various set of stakeholders have a role to play in making the internet a better place for all children, so they can fully enjoy their digital life and become empowered citizens: teachers, educators, librarians, social workers, policy makers, media actors, industry and all the professionals that work with and for youth.

This is why, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Safer Internet Day, on 7 February 2023, Betternet,  the Belgian Safer Internet Centre (coordinated by Child Focus in partnership with Mediawijs, CSEM and Media Animation), the Cabinet of Minister Petra De Sutter and the Belgian Cyber Secuirty Coalition will join forces and organize an event dedicated to a better and safer internet environment for all children in Belgium.

Through demos, panel discussions and presentation of good practices on both media literacy and e-safety, we want to inspire, support and bring together professionals in Belgium who accompany children online.

We will seize this event to launch the EDUbox Cybersecurity to the target audience. You can already consult the Dutch version on the VRT website. The French version will be available soon.

Target group

All professionals working with and for children on topics linked to media literacy, media education and e-safety, including educators, policy makers, media, and other potentially interested stakeholders. The main focus lies on inspiring professionals who work daily with children and young people, and provide them with hands-on information and ready-to-use tools. We are convinced that better and safer internet for children is a joint responsibility! Not only professionals working with children, but also parents, policy makers, industry and media have a role to play.

Together for a better internet!
