The main objective of the Application Security Focus Group is to share information on the security challenges of Applications and Applications Developments. We aim to learn from each other by sharing implementation experiences and best practices.
Application Security (short AppSec) includes all tasks that introduce a secure software development life cycle. Its final goal is to improve security practices to find, fix and preferably prevent security issues within applications. It encompasses the whole application life cycle from requirements analysis, design, implementation, verification as well as maintenance.
Security was once an afterthought in software design. Today, it’s an increasingly critical concern for every aspect of application development, from planning through deployment and beyond. The volume of applications developed, distributed, used, and patched is rapidly expanding. As a result, application security practices must address an increasing variety of threats.
