Every day, at least 3 to 4 Belgians are the victims of scammers pretending to be Microsoft or Apple technicians.

They lose an average of 1,000 to 10,000 euros, but there are also cases where scammers have captured more than 100,000 euros. The annual loss could run into millions.

This type of scam, also called ‘Microsoft scam of Tech Scam’ is currently a big threat. The phenomenon is nothing new but CERT.be has received 10 daily reports in the recent weeks. Fraudsters still manage to mislead people this way.
